The Hill climb marks an end to the Cycling season and the West Pennine event often enjoys fine autumnal weather and this years event was no different.
I always enjoy encouraging new riders so it was great to have Lisa Miles join us. Lisa, a keen runner pinned her number on and explained she had a feeling of fear that she had never had before a running event, (perhaps excitement is a better term). At college before speaking to a group we were taught to, “Feel the fear” as it’s that fear and the control of that feeling that drives you to perform well.
Gary passed on good advice to Lisa, passed on from Dave, explaining it is the bottom section where you gain your time.
While the picture might suggest a duel between Gary and Me the Duel was between Stan and Gary, watch this space for the result. It was Andy and I, both Rouleurs, who are better suited to the rolling lanes, who were duelling.
I guess blood is thicker than water when it comes to Stan and Hannah Clough as they rode hard, both true Grimpeurs.
