A big thank you to our friends at the Clarion for organising a great event on Tuesday. In the absence of a, “Nigel Bishop Dare”, Neil Swithenbank encouraged me to ride and I encouraged Paul Swift, that doubled ABC Centreville’s representation. Making up the group was Laura, Asa, me and Paul (Swift).
The event is really social and it’s always good to meet friends such as Katherine, Neil, Paul (Wotty), Nigel (Hood), Peter Roscoe, Joanne & Caroline. It was good to get support from Karen, Anthony, Morris, my son Oliver and Girlfriend Ellen too.
Despite feeling the cold east wind, I didn’t notice the effects of the crosswind on the initial recce with Paul. The 7% gradient was a different thing and was a constant nag that only eased after the second bend. Exiting the bend felt like an elastic band snapping however the chequered flag still felt a long way away. All I was left with at the end was a stinging feeling.
