East Lancs RC 10 on Chelford course (J2/1) – Saturday 29th April 2017
Three ABC Centreville veterans rode the East Lancs RC open 10 mile time trial on Saturday 29th April. Steve Whittington, Dan Shackleton and Jon Dance (yet another veteran making a comeback after a number of years away from racing).
It was another fine day, but the stiff South Easterly wind made a slog of the return leg from Booths Hall Island all the way to the finish via Chelford Island.
The overall winner was Mark Nulty (Glossop Kinder Velo CC) with a time of 21:17. Dan Shackleton’s 22:13 was good enough for 10th fastest overall, Steve Whittington recorded a 22:30 for 14th place, whilst Jon Dance returned with a 22:46 to finish the day in 21st place from 103 finishers.

Cannot verify only can work off memory recall (so great disadvantage there) but am sure that these results need reconfirming and checking if one of them is valid for a 10TT – think Dan’s
For his Strava for the time trial states he rode 9.8 miles not 10!!!!!!
(not ‘fluent’ in Strava so cannot work out how to back check)
The CTTC are going to check in line with the current Olympic arrangements so in circa 15 yrs it might be checked
Great ride all – one day if the doctors and physios sort my lower back out I might make a come back, this TT was the last one I rode 5 yrs ago before my Road Traffic Accident, next a TTT
Interesting thought John, though Strava itself might need checking first as it does some bizarre things at times! If you go on a ride with three different GPS units you can get 3 slightly different sets of data….
