All club rides and events are currently cancelled or on hold in line with advice from the government, British Cycling and Cycling UK

Insurance
1. Are we still covered under our insurance?
Insurance cover continues to be in place during the Covid-19 pandemic, provided that Government guidelines and British Cycling guidance are adhered to. Failure to follow Government guidelines and British Cycling guidance may invalidate your insurance.
2. Can we now advise our members that they can ride in groups of six or less whilst socially distancing and still be covered by the club insurance?
Yes, if club members follow Government guidelines and British Cycling guidance then insurance will still be valid.
3. Are Strava segments and challenges covered by British Cycling’s Club insurance?
If a club chooses a specific stretch of road or trail, such as using a Strava segment and holds a competition on it, this is defined as a formal organised event and it is not covered under British Cycling’s Club insurance. A formal organised event could be evidenced via a set of rules, a timeframe, publication of a leaderboard, awarding of prizes or similar.
If a club were to make its members generally aware of Strava segments in the local area, without endorsement, and individuals chose to ride them, then those that have British Cycling Race Gold, Silver and Ride memberships would be covered as normal, under their individual membership as long as they were not acting recklessly whilst riding. Note that a Strava segment, by its existence, does not guarantee its credibility, appropriateness as a route for you, or your ability to ride it safely. You should always ride safely within your abilities and in consideration of other users at all times.

Statements as to club rides and riding as a ‘group’
Noted today the 27th of June ride posting stating 8 out on club ride, BCF and government is 6 maximum.
One is the ‘breach’ of this ruling and two is that if anything occurs ( and todays conditions were very far from favouable) then the BCF insurance coverage is voided

To all, the latest ‘lockdown’ is upon us and during the recent government update and regulations it was stated that exercise can be taken once per day and must remain ‘local’ to your home, they also stated and it is documented that ‘local’ means – ‘your village, your town or that section of your city’.
BCF have apparently raised this with the government dept. to seek clarification and will issue a statement via the BCF website when they have it for they realise that this will be very restrictive on almost most cyclists.
Last night on two separate TV question & answers programmes about the lockdown and its meanings the term ref your village / town/ city was quoted as being the extent that you can go locally from your home was stated by both, with one stating local meaning a couple or few miles.
BCF have on their website an update from the recent government statement and their guidance and I would recommend all to read it and act accordingly.
It is going to be difficult for all, but keep safe and enjoy what rides etc you can.
