That was an interesting and informative talk by Dan with a good balance of the past history & ‘formation’ of time trialing with it’s history and foundations and his approach and season experiences.
A lot of club members missed out on it and it could have ‘sparked’ interest in riding TT’s especially so with Dan’s references to sporting courses and road bike events thus opening up the TT world without being held back by the expense of a TT bike that you may not with experience of events like doing and not drag strip courses were new riders may feel overawed by the out and out testers.
Could I suggest as a follow up :-
a) that if possible Dan could forward his talk notes to the club website to be ‘published’ as an article
b) as an additional to the article a schedule of the weekly / book at the start TT’s are listed with web references so that new riders wanting to try a TT or ‘old riders’ like myself can try these before committing to the more formulated TT’s
( I still have my TT bike that I rode at Chelford the day before my accident coming up to ten years ago – I use on my turbo but would like to do a 10 TT for my satisfaction of getting to some reasonable form of recovery)
c) dependent upon interest generated by Dan’s talk / article I would also suggest a club website ‘TT items for free to good home or sale’ page – I for one have numerous sets of older clip-on tt bars that could be used as an interim for someone wanting to start TT’ing.
